Owensboro, KY – June 28, 2025 — The Marshall County Special Olympics softball team made a strong debut at the Daviess County Special Olympics Softball Tournament this weekend. This marks the first year the county has fielded a Special Olympics softball team, and the players made a memorable first impression.

In their opening game, the Marshals faced off against the Bowling Green Stingrays. The team came out swinging, putting up an impressive 7 runs in the top of the first inning. The Marshals maintained their momentum throughout the game, securing a dominant 13-2 victory.

Their second game was against the Owensboro Stingers, a talented and well-matched opponent. Both teams battled hard, and the game ended in a 6-6 tie due to a rain delay that halted play.

Coach and team representatives expressed pride in the athletes' effort, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The tournament was an exciting start to what promises to be a bright future for Special Olympics softball in Marshall County.

Girls results from today's 3A KHSAA Meet: Addison Lyles 10th place in the 3200 Ann Marie Peffer 14th in Pole Vault Lily Hays 21st in shot put Audrey Grace Brown 21st in discus Mia McGregor 23rd in long jump and 20th in triple jump 4 x 800 placed 23rd 4 x 100 finished 22nd.

Tonight's Softball win marks the 4th Regional Championship by one of our Lady Marshals programs, as a school, for 2024-2025 season, joining Golf, Soccer, and Basketball. Congratulations to our student-athletes, coaches, support staff, parents and fans! It's been a successful season for Marshals Athletics across all sports, with more opportunities in the next week!

Softball wins 5-4 on a walk-off by Audrey Knisley in the bottom of the 7th over Paducah Tilghman! They advance to the Region 1 Championship tomorrow night at 6:00! Make plans to paint Graves County orange!

Baseball season ends with a 2-1 loss in the regional semifinals.

Regional Tournament Scores: F/5: Baseball - 14 Mayfield - 0 F/3: Softball - 15 Carlisle County - 0 Baseball plays winner of McCracken Co./Carlisle Co. tomorrow at 5:30 at Brooks Stadium. Softball will play either Graves Co./Tilghman at 5:30 tomorrow at Graves Co.

Marshals Baseball will play at 9:00 AM tomorrow morning at Brooks Stadium vs. Mayfield.

Tomorrow's Lady Marshal softball game has been moved to a 10 AM start.

Due to the forecast of inclement weather this evening: Tonight's Fourth District Softball and Baseball Championship games have been POSTPONED until tomorrow, May 21. Lady Marshals will play Calloway County at 6:00 . Marshals will play Murray High at 6:30.
