Merriel Jackson has signed to play her college softball at Shawnee Community College in Southern Illinois.
Merriel has been a member of the Lady Marshals Softball varsity team for 4 years. She has appeared in 88 games, starting 79 of those games. Merriel has hit a career .321 average with 13 doubles, three triples and has 31 RBI for the Marshals.
Her coach, Shane Darnall, says Merriel plays with grit and always finds a way to bring a spark when the team needs it, with big
hits in big situations. He goes on to say that Merriel has a great in-game IQ, commanding the field from the catcher's position and always willing to sacrifice her body to get an out for her team.
Merriel also excels in the classroom with a GPA of 4.04.
