Credit Recovery / Summer School
MCHS affords students the opportunity to earn credit for failed classes or classes that under certain circumstances cannot be earned during regular school hours.  Students who fail any classes required for graduation may be able to earn credit in a computer-based credit recovery system before or after school hours or during summer school.  An in-house credit recovery may be available for students needing to recover multiple classes.  Students must meet specific criteria to be accepted into credit recovery and also to maintain their status in the credit recovery system.

Current Grading Scale A = 90 – 100 B = 80 – 89             C = 70 – 79 D = 60 – 69 F =  0 – 59

No Pass / No Drive

  • This Kentucky State law (HB 32) applies to ALL students 16 and 17 years old who apply for a permit or license on or after August 1, 2007. It is important to understand that when a sixteen or seventeen year old goes to the circuit court clerk’s office to obtain an instructional permit or license, a School Compliance Verification Form must be presented verifying that the student is in compliance with KRS 159.051.

  • The public/private school students may obtain the School Compliance Verification Form from their school.  If a sixteen or seventeen year old does not present a school compliance verification form he/she will not be eligible to obtain an instructional permit or license.

  • When a sixteen or seventeen year old student drops out of school or is declared to be academically deficient, the schools will report electronically to the Division of Driver Licensing. The Division of Driver Licensing will suspend the student’s privilege to drive and notify the driver of the suspension. The schools will also report when a student is back in compliance with KRS 159.051 to the Division of Driver Licensing. The Division of Driver Licensing will reinstate the student’s driving privilege.

Tutoring
Tutoring is available with individual teachers by appointment.  Please contact your child’s teacher to get something set up.

Transfer Policy
Each transfer student will be dealt with on an individual basis.  If a student transfers during the school year, the schedule will be matched as closely as possible with the schedule the student had at the previous school.  Depending on when the student transfers in will affect how credits will be awarded at the end of the year.
